Yep! Free! Not going to cost you a penny, a dime or even a stotinka.

Why are we giving free Bulgarian lessons?

Since we have started giving Bulgarian lessons we have noticed that many people are very wary of language schools overcharging foreigners for lessons. This is understandable as there certainly is an element of this practice in various sectors in Bulgaria. However, not all us language schools are like that:)

So we have decided to do a trial run of free lessons where any payment at all is 100% OPTIONAL. If you like the lessons and think that voluntary payment is a good idea you can send whatever contribution you think fit via the button at the bottom of the page - BUT THE LESSONS ARE COMPLETELY FREE AND NO PAYMENT IS REQUIRED AT ALL!

Where and when are the lessons?

The lessons are in a virtual classroom and take place on-line via SKYPE using video calling software. There will be one lesson a week in the evening - at a convenient time and day agreed by the students and teacher. After signing up you will receive an e-mail with additional information.

How many lessons are free?

The mini-course consists of 3 lessons of an hour duration each.

Do i need to know any Bulgarian already?

No. The lessons are designed for the absolute beginner and are intended to give you an introduction to the language and to help you in everyday situations.

What if i want more lessons than 3?

If you particuarly like your lessons and you want to carry on learning in the same environment we will extend the length of course for each group on-demand. However good-willed we are this of course depends on us receiving enough voluntary contributions to meet the minimum costs of extending the lessons.

What do i need to be able to take part?

You need SKYPE, a video-cam and a good broadband internet connection. Please see teh exact technical requirements below.

Who will i be studying with?

Maximum class size is 5 (including the teacher). So you and 3 others who want to start learning Bulgarian.

Who will be giving the classes?

Andy Richards from Wales will be giving the free classes. He is a fluent Bulgarian speaker and is certified with the highest level in the 'Common European Language Framework' for Bulgarian. You can see who Andy is and how he speaks Bulgarian here.

Technical requirements

• a webcam
• Speakers and microphone – built-in or separate
• a good broadband connection, 4Mbps down / 512kbps up and a computer with a Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz processor
• Skype 5.0 or higher (to check version - open skype - 'help' - 'about skype')
